The Paw is real, and Bodie approves

The Paw is real. 🐾

Ā

After months of drawings, testing, material decisions and tooling, I finally have the first true Chompster Paw samples made from the actual mold and production material.

Ā

And, of course, Bodie was the first to test one.

Ā

The size and grip feel right. The Paw is softer and more flexible than the earlier material samples, stretches and returns to its shape, and works well for carrying, throwing and catching.

Ā

Most importantly, Bodie loved it.

Ā

Bodie and I approve the overall product, design and material, but I have not approved the full production run yet.

The first samples revealed two finishing issues that need to be corrected. Lake Erie is adding mold venting to address an air-trap area, and the extra rubber along the seam needs to be cleanly trimmed so every Paw is ready.

Ā

I have requested corrected final samples before giving the full production go-ahead.

Ā

This means another delay, and I am waiting for Lake Erie to confirm the revised timing. It is frustrating, but this time there is also something very real to celebrate:

The Chompster Paw is no longer just a drawing, prototype or mold. It exists. I have held it, tested it and watched the dog who inspired it carry it around proudly, play tug with it and catch too.

Ā

We are close and I am going to make sure the finishing details are right.
